Janet Buchwald


Janet Buchwald holds a B.A. in theatre from Tufts University. She was a founding member of the Boston Shakespeare Company and served as its Associate Artistic Director for four years. She then worked as Artistic Director of the Rhode Island Feminist Theatre, collaborating on original plays exploring women’s experience.

She has served as High Holy Day Cantorial Soloist at Wellesley College and at MIT. Recently, she co-authored The Mikveh Monologues with writer Anita Diamant and The Colors of Water: An African American Jewish Journey with Diamant and Yavilah McCoy. She has appeared with the Harvard Yiddish Players in Di Gantse Velt iz a Teater and Shulamis. Having performed last spring in Budzyn (and the “Show of Shows”), she is thrilled to be working once again with Guila Clara Kessous.
